New York State Assembly Races
New York State Assembly consists of 150 districts throughtout New York State. Each district elects a representative that then serves a two year term. There are no term limits. The NYS Assembly is commonly referred to as the lower house or the lower chamber. The upper chamber being the NYS Senate. The NYS Assembly operates similar to the House of Representatives in the nation's capitol.
The Speaker of the Assembly is elected by the majority party in power at that time. The Speaker controls the flow of legislation and committee assignments. The Speaker is the Cief Leadership position in the Assembly. NYS Assembly web site: https://nyassembly.gov
